Professional Finishing Update

I must sound like a broken record continually talking about change in my updates. This update will sound familiar. We have made so many additions and improvements to our line of products and services this year that they are almost too numerous to mention. There are new metallic products, new preview books, studio imprinted wallets, gold imprinted wallets, personalized wallets with colored fonts, full units in Image Express, banners printed on satin and vinyl, colored and artistic borders, full retouching service added to Image Express, new children’s templates, new senior grad card and holiday card templates, new wedding album templates, additional accessory items like folders and frames and many others. We are striving to provide you with the best products and services in the industry. 

Our latest and long awaited large format photographic digital printer has arrived and is ready for production. The Durst Theta 76HS is the finest digital printer in the industry.

We are pleased that Herff Jones continues to invest in new technology to better serve our professional photographers. The Durst Theta 76HS prints on true photographic paper, prints from 3x5’s up to 30”x 13 feet. We have already added 8 new sizes in both the Image Express and Image 21 available on both Metallic and Supra paper. We have priced our products very competitively and are so excited about our new printer that we are going to be offering a special on our large format print finishing.

The Holiday season is just around the corner and as always Herff Jones
does not have Christmas cutoff dates. Our normal production schedules
apply year round. Consult your Professional Finishing Price List for our
normal delivery times.

How is Your Life?

After reading Jon Hennessy’s article, you have to believe that Herff Jones and HJ ProDigital have been involved in a serious evolution of change. We’ve added new products, new printers and new Studio Support Specialists in this past year. We’ve made these changes as a commitment to You, our friends and valued clients.

We’ve made changes to our workflow and personnel with one purpose: If you work with Herff Jones, we will do what we can to make your life better and efficient.

Let’s all come to a quick agreement on these facts:

All of the products we have added and will continue to add will benefit you and your business. We know that you can choose to spend your time with your computer and Photoshop or with your family. The choice can only be made by you. Granted, sacrifices to family time are made quite often in our profession. 

An example or two of things we’re creating to get your life back are the new Artistic Borders and the Ink Jet Catalog. Sure, you can create your own borders in Photoshop, but can you create them with one click of the mouse, as you can with HJ ProDigital? Just click on the Options Palette and choose the Border you like. All you need to save time is to click your mouse. Give it a try right now. Easy, isn’t it?

How about creating Banners of satin or vinyl? Click on the Ink Jet catalog and choose the size you wish to order. Already created your design in Photoshop? Just drag in a large jpg sized to the banner size you need and you’re done! Haven’t created one yet? Again, choose the size, open up the Pager tool in HJ ProDigital and create your own template with text, photos, borders and more! Save your template in the My Templates folder and you can use it again and again, just drag new photos into it.

Those are two simple products that will make your life easier and give
you some extra time. Remember that your time is valuable. If not to you it is to others.

Lewiston Plant Update
The fall season is in full swing which means the Lewiston photo plant is producing photographs 24 hours a day. We hope that your busy fall schedule is going well and we are honored that you put your confidence in us to help you create memories that last a lifetime for your customers. 

In late August we finished installing 7 additional printers to meet our customers’ growing needs. Plus we have a total of 25 digital printers to meet your delivery needs. We have also maintained our film scanners and some of our optical equipment so whether you’re a film or digital photographer, our full service lab can fulfill all your printing needs.

If you are a school photographer, you’re most likely in the heat of the battle of original picture day. We recommend that you schedule absentee/retake day at least 5 weeks from the original day. Remember that you must submit the same paperwork to the lab for absentee shoots as you did for original day. Also let us know when you are finished photographing a school so we can get started with producing your deferred product offerings. Please feel free to contact our customer service group Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm central time if you have any questions about how to send an order to the lab.

Speaking of customer service, I would like to introduce to you the newest member our team, Vicki Matzke. Vicki is well qualified for this position as she has 32 years of experience with the company working in production. Please join me in wishing Vicki the best of luck in her newest venture with Herff Jones.

If you are a memory book customer, now is the time to electronically submit your memory book order to us. This year we are asking that you tell us how you plan on submitting your pages to us. That will help us customize the kit better for you and your school. Once we approve your order, the appropriate kit materials will be shipped. Don’t forget as the holidays get closer to keep in mind our plant schedules for your shipping needs. If you need any type of expedited service please call us ahead of time so we can work something out.
