HJ Pro Digital Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to size my images before placing them in the HJ Pro Digital ordering software?
You may import your digital camera files into HJ Pro Digital at the DPI and pixel dimensions the camera captured them at. It is not necessary to resize them to a higher DPI or change the height/width/aspect ratio of the image in an outside image editor. The HJ Pro Digital software allows you to pick your print size and then crop it any way you wish, using its WYSIWYG templates.

Is there a limit to the number and type of characters I can use in a camera file name?
Camera file names should be limited to not more than 15 characters. Avoid using the following characters/symbols in your file names: , " ^ & * = | < > ? / \ ( ) ' ~These will cause problems in our production system and can delay your order.

I'm ordering a greeting card that has multiple text boxes. One or more of the fields I would like to intentionally leave blank. What do I need to do?
In the field you wish to leave blank, just be sure to "back out" the existing "type text here" message. Otherwise, this text will show on your finished print.

What color space should my submitted files be in?
Camera files sent to Herff Jones for printing should be in the sRGB color space. Files with an embedded profile other than sRGB may yield a print with inaccurate or unsatisfactory color tones. For best results, make sure the camera captures in sRGB and that all aspects of your studio workflow (hardware and software) preserve that profile. In addition, your monitor should be properly calibrated to closely match lab output.

I am trying to enter or check my FTP account number and password in the Customer Information section of the software, but those fields are not visible. Where are they?
Be sure the screen resolution of your monitor display is set at something greater than 800 x 600. Certain entry boxes and push buttons in the HJ Pro Digital interface will be "hidden" or attenuated at screen resolutions of 800 x 600 and lower.

When I tried launching HJ Pro Digital a message appeared saying the application was unable to load.
From time to time, (usually once a week) the software is designed to check for automatic updates; to do this a connection to the internet is required. Check to see that an internet connection is present and then try launching the application again.

Will HJ Pro Digital run on a Mac?
HJ Pro Digital will run on a Macintosh with OS 10.2 or greater.

When I try to send my order over the internet I get an error that says I can't log in.
Open the 'My Information' window and make sure your FTP Account and FTP Password are typed in exactly as they appear in the registration email you received. Even an extra space at the end of the account or password field can create a login error.

What types of image files can I import into the HJ Pro Digital software?
HJ Pro Digital will only work with .JPG files. If you have .TIF files or raw camera files, you will need to convert them to .JPGs first before loading them into the viewer.

I converted a color image to black and white using the grayscale mode in PhotoShop, and then used HJ Pro Digital to send it to the lab for printing. The lab contacted me and said the image would not print.
Images must be in RGB mode. After you do your conversion to black and white using grayscale mode, go back into Image > Mode and select RGB Color.

After submitting an order successfully, I am not getting an email confirmation.
Open the ‘My Information’ window and make sure your email address is entered correctly. If there is a typo, fix it here. If you get a new email address, remember to also go here and change it.

Instead of submitting my order over the internet, I would like to send it to the lab on a disc. What media do you accept?
You may burn your order file to a recordable CD or +/-DVD.
